Fall Presidential - Tuesday, November 8, 2016 (Yes, this is the correct date...Election Day is, by federal law, the first Tuesday AFTER the first Monday in the month of November.)
Voting by Absentee Ballot
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an Absentee Ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, and who has resided in the municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 days before the election. The elector must be a registered voter in the Town of Spring Prairie, or in the case of Absentee Military Voters, eligible to vote in the State of Wisconsin, to receive an Absentee Ballot.
To obtain an Absentee Ballot you must make a request in writing or appear in person at the Town Hall.
Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or general election or both. You may also request an Absentee Ballot by letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address to which the Absentee Ballot should be sent if different from your voting address, and your signature.
Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk.
You can also personally go to the clerk’s office in the two weeks prior to the election, during regular office hours, complete a written application, and vote an Absentee Ballot at that time.

The deadline for making a mail application to vote an Absentee Ballot for an Election is 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the election. The mailed application must be received by that day to be honored. Military electors should contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an Absentee Ballot as soon as possible.
The deadline for voting an Absentee Ballot in the Clerk’s Office is 5:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to the election. The Clerk’s Office will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. only.
All mailed Absentee Ballots must be postmarked no later than the day of the Election and received by the municipal clerk no later than the Friday following the election.
Effective with the Spring 2015 Primary Election you must:
Provide photo ID, state your full name and address when requesting a ballot;
and sign the poll book or ballot will not be issued.
